Immigration reform could be bonanza for Democrats – POLITICO.com

The immigration proposal pending in Congress would transform the nation’s political landscape for a generation or more — pumping as many as 11 million new Hispanic voters into the electorate a decade from now in ways that, if current trends hold, would produce an electoral bonanza for Democrats and cripple Republican prospects in many states they now win easily.

Beneath the philosophical debates about amnesty and border security, there are brass-tacks partisan calculations driving the thinking of lawmakers in both parties over comprehensive immigration reform, which in its current form offers a pathway to citizenship — and full voting rights — for a group of undocumented residents that roughly equals the population of Ohio, the nation’s seventh-largest state.

Immigrant

20121118-144215.jpg

We are a nation of immigrants, but does that mean that we should have wide open borders?  At the height of European migration, when France gave us the Statue of Liberty, did we not have and use Ellis Island where many were in fact sent back?  When they came they didn’t get anything from the govt, even as some were able to homestead, but illegal immigrants get a wealth of aid all while calling America racist.  Does the fact that my ancestors came here as early as 500 years ago mean that the US should always have an open door, regardless of the struggles the American people face?  Our immigration policies, the same which allow terrorists citizenship and reward criminal activity while denying a home schooling Christian family from Germany the chance to stay are insane, and if they show racism, ask yourself why the Romeike family face deportation while Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a US citizen, and his brother was allowed to remain even after we were told of his terrorist ties.

The president is expected to indulge in some of his favorite pastimes on the island where he was born and raised: golf, an expedition for the local treat “shave ice,” and an evening out with family and friends. Caring for the Poor and Middle Class

It amazes me that liberals stand by the argument that they are for the working class and the poor.  Seems to be that you aren’t helping the working class or the poor when you drive jobs away through high taxes and regulations, or when they keep stores like Walmart away, and place huge taxes on cigarettes and alcohol knowing full well the poor will still buy them.  How exactly does outlawing bags or “encouraging” people to buy new vehicles (keeping them in debt) help?  How does massive unchecked illegal immigration help?

How exactly do liberal policies help?

Every child should go to college?  Why?  So they can have the joy of working at McDonald’s with a mountain of debt they can neither repay or get out from under?  Are there that many jobs out there?  I realize they’re saving the word “depression” for a Republican President, but where are the jobs?  Forget the degree, just jobs?  Are they doing anyone any favors?

Somehow creating a mountain of debt by giving trillions of dollars away helps the poor and working class?  That money didn’t go to the poor and working class.  It didn’t create jobs.  It went to the same people the liberals shout that they are protecting us from, the banks, big business, and Wall Street.  No wonder Pelosi is winking at Occupy Wall Street.  The jokes on them!

Restricting the American farmer, taking away water rights and cutting off land use, thus contributing to higher food costs, somehow benefits Americans?  Somehow we have to have open borders to keep farm labor costs down, but the flip side to that is they do everything else to inflate prices then blame everyone else for the high prices.

Sitting on vast resources that we can’t touch, resources of oil and natural gas, inflating the cost of everything across the board, forcing people to choose between filling the tank or paying the mortgage, forcing parents out of the home for greater and greater periods and taking away the time that should be spent as family somehow benefits the people?

And the children, how do these policies help the children?  We all know the claim that liberals protect the children, but how exactly does bankrupting our children’s future while “radically transforming America” help the children?  Is that what they think they’re doing when they outlaw prayer from the public schools (unless it’s Muslim; we don’t want to offend)?

Are they teaching the children to think critically, to recognize the keys to success individually and collectively, to really understand how the world works, or are the teaching them that it is all owed to them?  The key to success as they teach it is not based on merit, but on the color of your skin, or at least the group you claim, just ask Ms. Warren.  Ask the entrance board for Annapolis or West Point.  Those who excel apart from the prescribed box are “evil”, unless it’s a Hollywood celebrity or some other train wreak that we’ve traded real heroes for.  That’s progressive!

Yes, the liberals are looking out for the poor and the middle class, but few of us can afford such love and devotion.

I know, how racist of me!

Some facts for the unconvinced…

January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took control of this nation…
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George W. Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH!!!
U.S. Deficit was $247.7 billion the lowest in four years.
And Bush was slammed for average gas prices of $2.29 a gallon for unleaded.

Who is helping the poor and middle class?

An Open Rant

I am Christian.  I am conservative.  That alone is enough to throw out plenty of stereotypes.

I cast my first vote for Ronald Reagan and have voted Republican in every Presidential election except 1996, when I voted for and strongly supported Harry Browne, and in 2008.  Fact is in ’08 I simply could not stomach the idea of John McCain on any level.  That does not mean I voted for Barack Obama either.  For the first time I did not vote for President.  Some may argue that a vote taken from McCain was a vote for Obama, but I was sick and tired, as many of you are now, of the GOP putting forth RINOs and forcing us to vote for them.  Frankly I have reached the point where I no longer wish to choose the scenic route to socialism and the death of the Republic.  I suspect that many out there feel the same way.

I strongly support Ron Paul, and his campaign has revealed how far the establishment will go to shut out someone who reflects the values that made this nation great.  In seeing the numbers of people who Ron Paul has reached, I have tremendous hope that our future is not as decided as some may wish.  America still has a fight in her, and Americans are not ready to give up our inheritance.

The reasons why I am not now a registered Libertarian, even as I lean Libertarian, is  based on a few issues.  The first being the issue of illegal aliens.  All parties have ignored this issue for various reasons, but I do believe strongly that our nation holds a basic duty to secure our borders and control who can come in and be a citizen.  The negligence of our government to do that has created a huge mess that hurts illegals and Americans alike.

The Statue of Liberty is very cool, but that poem was never supposed to be public policy.  It is not a Constitutional amendment.  We never voted on it, and in fact when we have voted it has been clear; NO OPEN BORDERS.  If you are here because you wish to be an American, by all means come, but if you wish to transform this nation, to impose your language, customs, or religion on us, go home.  This is not your home.  We need to see that our own are taken care of first before we extend charity and open arms to others.  We do not allow 1.5 million illegals a year to flood our nation when so many Americans are out of work.  They should not come if they will never ascribe to American values or identity.  Out of many we are one people, and if we are not, our destruction is assured.

The LP position is as follows:

We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. Political freedom and escape from tyranny demand that individuals not be unreasonably constrained by government in the crossing of political boundaries. Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders. However, we support control over the entry into our country of foreign nationals who pose a credible threat to security, health or property.

As for free trade, I do not believe in unilateral free trade.  We have numbers and resources, and these should be utilized to create fair trade.  If a nation will not extend free trade with us, there is no reason we should allow them into our markets.  China, a communist tyranny that uses slave labor, often Christians imprisoned for their faith, a regime that does not extend free trade to the U.S., should not be producing our products or selling in our marketplace.  Therein is another reason I am not a big L libertarian.

The LP policy on abortion is as follows:

Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.

I believe abortion is a grave sin, but that ultimately the issue should be left to the states to decide.  That is how our Republic was set up, and it works very well.  Of course government should have a say in the matter, but the choice should be determined locally, like most issues, not federally.  The same for homosexual marriage and other issues.  The granting of these rights by a state should not ever be used to deny anyone their First Amendment right by forcing people of faith to support or provide these things.  That was the real issue with the “War Against Women” and Sandra Fluke, it is an attempt to force people of faith to provide birth control and abortifacients to those who come to them.    Churches are threatened with law suits for not allowing gay marriage.  Who is cramming their views down everyone’s throats?

In a contest between God and man, God wins.

I’m not looking to write a book on the issue, but isn’t it time that there was someone who reflects the views of most Americans?  Isn’t it time to set the Republicrat – Demican lie aside and recognize that neither side is working in our best interests?  Liberals make up their own script, but there are some real issues.  In those issues why would they trust the government or even want the government to address those things?  Do they really believe that politicians (Obama included) paid for by the so called 1% are some how going to work for the people?  Big business and big government are two sides of the same coin.  Limit the power of the government and you directly limit the power of the elites over the masses.

The solution is with the people, not government.  The solution is in restoring the Republic, and liberty to the people, in securing our future, and not selling out our grandchildren to pay for Bill Ayers vision of America.

What party stands for that?

California Logic – Dangerous and Contagious

Los Angeles has imposed a$1,000 fine for throwing a football or a frisbee on the beaches of L.A. county.  Their reason being that such activity could potentially injure someone.  It is an issue of public safety.

Safety?  This from the place that wishes to make sure that illegal aliens caught driving without a license will not have their cars impounded.  An idea that is so brilliant that the state of California may ban impounding cars statewide for driving without a license.  As LAPD Chief Charlie Beck told the local newspaper that impounding vehicles presents an “unfair burden” and “disproportionate blow” for illegal aliens, who he refers to as a “valuable asset to our community.”  The chief says it’s a “fairness issue” because there is a “vast difference between someone driving without a license because they cannot legally be issued one and someone driving after having their license revoked.”  In other words, under the LAPD guidelines, citizens will have their vehicles impounded at their own expense, but illegal aliens will keep their illegally driven cars, thus illegal aliens are above the law.  And why not, San Francisco says it is ok for illegal aliens to drive without a license.  Problem is people die, like this four-year old in Santa Rosa.  So public safety clearly takes a back seat to illegal alien advocacy.

Don Rosenberg’s 25-year-old son was killed by an unlicensed illegal alien driver who had previously been stopped and let go in San Francisco.  This father will never again have his son or hear his voice.  His letter to Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa of Los Angeles is something that everyone should read.  Consider the stories of all the deaths listed here.

AAA has done several studies on the impact of unlicensed drivers and has some eye-opening statistics.  AAA says that, of the 40,000 fatal car crashes every year, one in five involves an unlicensed driver. The California Department of Motor Vehicles says that compared with licensed drivers, those driving without licenses are five times more likely to be involved in a fatal car accident ,five times more likely to drive drunk and over four times more likely to flee.

The danger is obvious.  We require people to take a test because a vehicle is something that can result is multiple deaths.  It is a privilege, not a right.  If someone is hindered because they engaged in illegal acts we should not revoke laws to allow them to place the public at greater risk.

Politics has become more important than public safety.

I tried to find statistics on deaths by frisbees or footballs but I could find none.  $1,000 fine for throwing a football, but unlicensed illegal alien drivers are perfectly fine.

After all, they played the race card.
