Real Peace

Sometimes it seems as if the whole world was on fire.  Chaos seems present at every turn, and the uncertainty of tomorrow is felt very much in our day to day.  Logic has taken a fall, and emotions seem misplaced.  The need for truth has been replaced by a hunger for destruction and manipulation.  To win at all costs is not and will never be the pursuit of right.  While life demands response, let wisdom guide our steps.  Action apart from direction is destruction, and actions committed in anger lead to regret.  Much as we may want to respond now in 1,000 different directions, this isn’t the time to throw gasoline on the fire.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

It’s easy to forget who we are, to get caught up in the drama of it all, and to forget the peace that can carry us through.  Faith, family, friendships, and love, the things that not only give meaning, but serve as a rudder through the storms of life.  It is as society itself were at war with these things, but again, these are the things that will carry us through, the only things that can carry us through.  Take that time to breathe, to be still, to hear His voice and to find His peace that He would direct our steps.  Express love to those who surround you, and treasure the moments we share.  May the noise that surrounds me never rob me of the beauty right in front of me.  Strive not for perfection, but rather what is right.  As much as we must stand against evil and declare it for what it is, may the beauty that surrounds us never be taken from our sight, and may the peace from which wisdom flows never be pushed aside.  A thrashing bird can know no peace, nor see that the door to the cage is open.  It simply needs to stop, that it can see and find freedom.  The one who can find peace in the midst of chaos is the one who will survive and live, saving many others in the process.

Caring for the Poor and Middle Class

It amazes me that liberals stand by the argument that they are for the working class and the poor.  Seems to be that you aren’t helping the working class or the poor when you drive jobs away through high taxes and regulations, or when they keep stores like Walmart away, and place huge taxes on cigarettes and alcohol knowing full well the poor will still buy them.  How exactly does outlawing bags or “encouraging” people to buy new vehicles (keeping them in debt) help?  How does massive unchecked illegal immigration help?

How exactly do liberal policies help?

Every child should go to college?  Why?  So they can have the joy of working at McDonald’s with a mountain of debt they can neither repay or get out from under?  Are there that many jobs out there?  I realize they’re saving the word “depression” for a Republican President, but where are the jobs?  Forget the degree, just jobs?  Are they doing anyone any favors?

Somehow creating a mountain of debt by giving trillions of dollars away helps the poor and working class?  That money didn’t go to the poor and working class.  It didn’t create jobs.  It went to the same people the liberals shout that they are protecting us from, the banks, big business, and Wall Street.  No wonder Pelosi is winking at Occupy Wall Street.  The jokes on them!

Restricting the American farmer, taking away water rights and cutting off land use, thus contributing to higher food costs, somehow benefits Americans?  Somehow we have to have open borders to keep farm labor costs down, but the flip side to that is they do everything else to inflate prices then blame everyone else for the high prices.

Sitting on vast resources that we can’t touch, resources of oil and natural gas, inflating the cost of everything across the board, forcing people to choose between filling the tank or paying the mortgage, forcing parents out of the home for greater and greater periods and taking away the time that should be spent as family somehow benefits the people?

And the children, how do these policies help the children?  We all know the claim that liberals protect the children, but how exactly does bankrupting our children’s future while “radically transforming America” help the children?  Is that what they think they’re doing when they outlaw prayer from the public schools (unless it’s Muslim; we don’t want to offend)?

Are they teaching the children to think critically, to recognize the keys to success individually and collectively, to really understand how the world works, or are the teaching them that it is all owed to them?  The key to success as they teach it is not based on merit, but on the color of your skin, or at least the group you claim, just ask Ms. Warren.  Ask the entrance board for Annapolis or West Point.  Those who excel apart from the prescribed box are “evil”, unless it’s a Hollywood celebrity or some other train wreak that we’ve traded real heroes for.  That’s progressive!

Yes, the liberals are looking out for the poor and the middle class, but few of us can afford such love and devotion.

I know, how racist of me!

Some facts for the unconvinced…

January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took control of this nation…
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George W. Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH!!!
U.S. Deficit was $247.7 billion the lowest in four years.
And Bush was slammed for average gas prices of $2.29 a gallon for unleaded.

Who is helping the poor and middle class?

Hey Y’all

Thank You!

Sorry I haven’t posted  in a while.  I have read up on your blogs and I have to say that you all truly give me hope.  Here we are, forty plus years into an effort to redefine America, and here you all are fighting tooth and nail for this great nation of ours.  You are all awesome, and it gives me tremendous hope for our future.  Things can look pretty bleak at times, but America is alive in her people.  That ideal, even with the public schools, media, and colleges trying to trash it, even with the federal government taking away holidays and telling everyone how sorry we are, remains very much alive.  Our past IS our hope for the future.  There is nothing revolutionary in having government cram their ideals down everyone’s throats.  The real revolution was what took place in 1776, and what remains alive in each one of you.  The real revolution is FREEDOM!

Remember the values that made us great.  We are a land of tremendous resources and wonderful people.  We are a Christian nation.  We are a moral nation.  We are a free nation.  We do not need government to save us, we need only to save ourselves, to commit fully to the rich legacy that is ours, and stand on the foundation of truth.

They can only take what we surrender, and the time of surrender is over.  It may feel like winter, but springtime exists just around the corner so long as that ideal remains alive and passed along to our children.  You are not content to surrender to the legacy of those who flew North Vietnam flags in the 60’s or sat on an anti-aircraft gun in Hanoi while declaring our military war criminals.  To quote one of their heroes, “They got the guns, but we got the numbers.”  In fact we have the guns and the numbers.

The Republic is anything but dead!  Under attack for a long time, but the United States of America is absolutely alive!  I am inspired by all of you, political blog or not, because you keep this great nation alive.  Thank you!

God bless you all!

SOPA’s Evil Twin Sister – CISPA

They just don’t give up, and won’t!  Not safe to turn away when the assault on liberty is in full swing.  Get the word out.  Graphic from Lumin Consulting and they offer permission to share the graphic.

In the hopes of creating awareness of what CISPA actually is and how it could effect the lives of every day people, we created this infographic. Feel free to share the graphic on your site. You can find quotes from Fortune 500 CEO’s who are endorsing the bill here. You can also write a letter to your local representative to protest CISPA here.

A Few Thoughts on Liberty

The brutality of unchecked government is far too well noted historically and in the world around us to ever allow our government to be untethered from the Constitution.  To do so is not only a betrayal to those who have gone before us and gave so much to secure this Republic, but also to those who come after us, our children, grandchildren and beyond.  Even limited, power is as prone to abuse as flies are to an outhouse.  It marvels me that so many who are aware of government abuses are so willing to hand over their liberties to this same government, to entrust them on every level with our lives and our children.

It has become very fashionable to tarnish the character of our American heroes by pointing out that they were flawed.  Personally I have never subscribed to the concept of perfect people, and as such do not hold perfection as my standard for greatness.  It saddens me deeply that we have such a disconnect from our history in the U.S. today.  The standard has been set and we should remember that standard while striving for the ideal of what America means.  Our heroes should be remembered and their examples emulated and improved upon.  America means far more to those who understand who we are and where we came from.  We are a people of principles and convictions, who learned hard lessons from the places we fled.  We are a people who understood the uniqueness of this nation and our role within it.  We are the people of the Revolution, whose ideals were framed within a Constitution that remains relevant and meaningful because of the conditions that birthed it and our nation.  To lose our cultural identity is to lose not only our uniqueness but our nation itself.  To toss out that ideal because people are flawed is the action of fools.  It is because people are flawed that the ideal must be held close and acted upon.

The men who fought and died at the Alamo have since had their reputations unfairly attacked.  They rose against injustice and tyranny, and even when they knew that they would die for standing against evil, not one saw fit to leave.  It is better to stand strong against tyranny than to live under the same.  They are heroes, and they show how deeply conviction should run.

If our convictions were that deep, if we were willing to do everything to defend what is right, our government would not be unchecked, and our Constitution would not be threatened.  Our challenge is not to overthrow or to break away, but rather to sustain and restore what is rightfully ours.  If more Americans knew who Nathan Hale was than Kim Kardashian, and saw which of the two was one to be emulated, tyranny would have no chance.
