Real Peace

Sometimes it seems as if the whole world was on fire.  Chaos seems present at every turn, and the uncertainty of tomorrow is felt very much in our day to day.  Logic has taken a fall, and emotions seem misplaced.  The need for truth has been replaced by a hunger for destruction and manipulation.  To win at all costs is not and will never be the pursuit of right.  While life demands response, let wisdom guide our steps.  Action apart from direction is destruction, and actions committed in anger lead to regret.  Much as we may want to respond now in 1,000 different directions, this isn’t the time to throw gasoline on the fire.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

It’s easy to forget who we are, to get caught up in the drama of it all, and to forget the peace that can carry us through.  Faith, family, friendships, and love, the things that not only give meaning, but serve as a rudder through the storms of life.  It is as society itself were at war with these things, but again, these are the things that will carry us through, the only things that can carry us through.  Take that time to breathe, to be still, to hear His voice and to find His peace that He would direct our steps.  Express love to those who surround you, and treasure the moments we share.  May the noise that surrounds me never rob me of the beauty right in front of me.  Strive not for perfection, but rather what is right.  As much as we must stand against evil and declare it for what it is, may the beauty that surrounds us never be taken from our sight, and may the peace from which wisdom flows never be pushed aside.  A thrashing bird can know no peace, nor see that the door to the cage is open.  It simply needs to stop, that it can see and find freedom.  The one who can find peace in the midst of chaos is the one who will survive and live, saving many others in the process.
