California Logic – Dangerous and Contagious

Los Angeles has imposed a$1,000 fine for throwing a football or a frisbee on the beaches of L.A. county.  Their reason being that such activity could potentially injure someone.  It is an issue of public safety.

Safety?  This from the place that wishes to make sure that illegal aliens caught driving without a license will not have their cars impounded.  An idea that is so brilliant that the state of California may ban impounding cars statewide for driving without a license.  As LAPD Chief Charlie Beck told the local newspaper that impounding vehicles presents an “unfair burden” and “disproportionate blow” for illegal aliens, who he refers to as a “valuable asset to our community.”  The chief says it’s a “fairness issue” because there is a “vast difference between someone driving without a license because they cannot legally be issued one and someone driving after having their license revoked.”  In other words, under the LAPD guidelines, citizens will have their vehicles impounded at their own expense, but illegal aliens will keep their illegally driven cars, thus illegal aliens are above the law.  And why not, San Francisco says it is ok for illegal aliens to drive without a license.  Problem is people die, like this four-year old in Santa Rosa.  So public safety clearly takes a back seat to illegal alien advocacy.

Don Rosenberg’s 25-year-old son was killed by an unlicensed illegal alien driver who had previously been stopped and let go in San Francisco.  This father will never again have his son or hear his voice.  His letter to Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa of Los Angeles is something that everyone should read.  Consider the stories of all the deaths listed here.

AAA has done several studies on the impact of unlicensed drivers and has some eye-opening statistics.  AAA says that, of the 40,000 fatal car crashes every year, one in five involves an unlicensed driver. The California Department of Motor Vehicles says that compared with licensed drivers, those driving without licenses are five times more likely to be involved in a fatal car accident ,five times more likely to drive drunk and over four times more likely to flee.

The danger is obvious.  We require people to take a test because a vehicle is something that can result is multiple deaths.  It is a privilege, not a right.  If someone is hindered because they engaged in illegal acts we should not revoke laws to allow them to place the public at greater risk.

Politics has become more important than public safety.

I tried to find statistics on deaths by frisbees or footballs but I could find none.  $1,000 fine for throwing a football, but unlicensed illegal alien drivers are perfectly fine.

After all, they played the race card.

  1. I burnt my hand cooking the other day…should probably make cooking illegal because it could be dangerous. OH and there also stairs at my work, I could trip on them and hurt myself, better outlaw those too. Actually, better lock me up in a plastic bubble as I pretty much pose a huge threat to myself just by existing and having the potential to do “dangerous” things. Perfectly logical.
