The brutality of unchecked government is far too well noted historically and in the world around us to ever allow our government to be untethered from the Constitution. To do so is not only a betrayal to those who have gone before us and gave so much to secure this Republic, but also to those who come after us, our children, grandchildren and beyond. Even limited, power is as prone to abuse as flies are to an outhouse. It marvels me that so many who are aware of government abuses are so willing to hand over their liberties to this same government, to entrust them on every level with our lives and our children.
It has become very fashionable to tarnish the character of our American heroes by pointing out that they were flawed. Personally I have never subscribed to the concept of perfect people, and as such do not hold perfection as my standard for greatness. It saddens me deeply that we have such a disconnect from our history in the U.S. today. The standard has been set and we should remember that standard while striving for the ideal of what America means. Our heroes should be remembered and their examples emulated and improved upon. America means far more to those who understand who we are and where we came from. We are a people of principles and convictions, who learned hard lessons from the places we fled. We are a people who understood the uniqueness of this nation and our role within it. We are the people of the Revolution, whose ideals were framed within a Constitution that remains relevant and meaningful because of the conditions that birthed it and our nation. To lose our cultural identity is to lose not only our uniqueness but our nation itself. To toss out that ideal because people are flawed is the action of fools. It is because people are flawed that the ideal must be held close and acted upon.
The men who fought and died at the Alamo have since had their reputations unfairly attacked. They rose against injustice and tyranny, and even when they knew that they would die for standing against evil, not one saw fit to leave. It is better to stand strong against tyranny than to live under the same. They are heroes, and they show how deeply conviction should run.
If our convictions were that deep, if we were willing to do everything to defend what is right, our government would not be unchecked, and our Constitution would not be threatened. Our challenge is not to overthrow or to break away, but rather to sustain and restore what is rightfully ours. If more Americans knew who Nathan Hale was than Kim Kardashian, and saw which of the two was one to be emulated, tyranny would have no chance.

I don’t know if I believe in fortune tellers or not, but back in the 70″s Jean Dixon for told that in the turn of the century we would see a turn toward liberal conservative type thinking in the government. The way things are now I tend to believe, We are slowly losing our way of living and being controlled more and more by the Government. I blame it a lot on the Hippy revolution and free love life in the 60′ and 70’s. That was the beginning. In today’s world there are a lot of decedents from that era that think totally different than us of older generation..
It is prophecy that there would come a time when things would turn, but all the same, I’ll stick with what I know is right. We have lost our way, and it doesn’t take much to see that we have lost a lot.
